Excel Countifs Function to Count Duplicates Across 2 Columns

Syntax

=COUNTIFS(range,criteria,range,criteria) // for 2 conditions

Application

Type the below formula in to an Excel sheet in cell C2 and drag down. You can then use Data > Remove Duplicates for the Name and Club columns to get concise duplicate counts. You will have to copy and paste values for the duplicates column before removing duplicates otherwise they will be recalculated.

=COUNTIFS(A:A,A2,B:B,B2)
